Prior to 2003, three members of the Columbus chapter relocated to the Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX area and decided to form a Texas chapter.  A membership drive was held and a chapter was formed with 15 charter members. Several of the members were first-time golfers and enrolled in a “player's performance program” at Cowboys Golf Club.

There was a lot of activity in 2005, as the Texas chapter's membership increased to 27, and was composed of ladies throughout various cities and towns in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex. Some members and their families traveled to Ohio to participate in the Ebony Golf Classic; and foursome represented the League at the CITE (Verizon) golf tournament. The League was also featured on the Susan G. Komen “Rally for a Cure” website.

The 2006 season was awesome as the League experienced!  The league and the ladies continued their development and expanded networking opportunities in several ways:

  • hosted a Rules & Etiquette clinic, which later become an annual event;
  • coordinated golf lessons with noted instructor Amy Fox (named one of the Top 50 Instructors by Golf for Women magazine in 1999 & 2005, and named Top instructor by Golf magazine in 2001, 2002 & 2003);
  • incorporated “Friday Nights at the Range” into the schedule to give members more opportunities to practice together and network;
  • established Saturday morning play days at 9 and 18-hole courses (alternating each week);
  • scheduled Night tee times during Texas' hot summer months;
  • hosted the “Rally for a Cure” tournament;
  • added a fall Field Day mini-tournament to the calendar as the last league-sponsored golfing event of the season

The League continued its growth in the 2007 season and expanded to an 18-hole course for the annual RALLY FOR THE CURE© tournament.

The Texas Chapter currently has more than 50 members, including several junior members. Play days are held every 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from April to October. While some members participate in various tournaments hosted by local organizations, other serve as volunteers in the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program of Dallas, assisting in the development of golf skills of young girls.

The League is fortunate to have access to former LPGA players, who serve as Consultants to the League,  help organize golf clinics, and provide guidance to the Advisory Board on a variety of golf issues. The consultants are: Mary Lou Crocker, Oneda Castillo, and Renee Powell.
